Our Story

DOD Libraries: We strive to connect our service members and their families to new ideas, accurate information, and memorable experiences.

DOD Libraries is a new Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) online service arising out of a Department of Defense (DOD) joint service initiative to combine resources and efforts of the four branches of service (Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force) and the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community & Family Policy.

Because the internet is a popular and power tool used for information access, education, and entertainment, the services have contracted with a world leader in Information Resources to deliver the highest value of library services to the U.S. DOD community. DOD Libraries is transforming the way MWR provides online library services to our Service members and families, empowering them to embrace life-learn learning, revitalize, and most importantly, be mission-ready. Search for new library materials and upcoming programs at the local base library; learn a new language; find a tutor; check out a digital book: these are just a few of the services offered in our new one-stop library shop.
